The former comprises five variants (HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+), whilst the latter has only two: GTX(O) and GTX+. The top-tier X Line variant (based on the GTX) has a revised design for a more robust appearance.
Seating Capacity: The Seltos is a five-seater.
Engine and Transmission: It is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The two petrol engines – 1.5-litre (making 115PS and 144Nm) and 1.4-litre turbocharged (140PS and 242Nm) – share a six-speed manual transmission, but have different automatics (CVT for the naturally aspirated motor and DCT for the turbo mill).
The 1.5-liter diesel engine (115PS and 250Nm) is available with six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. In addition, the six-speed iMT (clutchless manual) paired with the 1.5-liter petrol engine is now available with diesel as well.
Kia quotes 16.5kmpl for the petrol-manual variants and 16.8kmpl for the petrol-CVT variants. The diesel AT is claimed to deliver 18kmpl, while the 1.4-liter turbo-petrol with DCT has a claimed mileage of 16.5kmpl, with the manual delivering 16.1kmpl.
Features: The Seltos comes loaded with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, air purifier, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable driver seat, and an eight-speaker Bose sound system. The list also includes an eight-inch head-up display, smartwatch connectivity, a sunroof, and remote-engine start.
Safety: Six airbags are standard, as are a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and hill-assist control. It also has ABS with EBD, braking assist, and vehicle stability management (VSM).
Rivals: The Seltos rivals the Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara and Volkswagen Taigun. If you’re in the market for a rugged SUV, you can check out the Mahindra Scorpio.
